Here is an example of a Limerick translation of Chapter 42

The Tao gives birth to One.
One gives birth to Two.
Two gives birth to Three.
Three gives birth to all things.

All things have their backs to the female
and stand facing the male.
When male and female combine,
all things achieve harmony.

Ordinary men hate solitude.
But the Master makes use of it,
embracing his aloneness, realizing
he is one with the whole universe.

The tao makes one and the one makes two,
two makes the three and three can make you.
So what do you see when you stare at that three
knowing you're only a few.

There was a young man who said though

it seems that I know that I know

what I would like to see is the eye that sees me

when I know that I know that I know.
